orichalcum at 10:46am on 31/08/2005Working out the dessert bill last night with friends, it suddenly hit me how profound my mind thinks this move will be:
I thought, "We'd better make sure to spend all these one-dollar bills before we move to Chicago, where they don't take them."
Now logically, of course, I know that Chicago is in fact part of the U.S., and that dollars are quite likely legal currency there.
But the last time I wasn't living in NYC, I was traveling the world for a year and living out of a backpack. Moves, for me, generally involve being in a place where I don't speak the language and they use prettier money.
This will, I suspect, take some adjustment.
