I had the LitHum interview today, which seemed to go well, although I need to rehearse more the 30-second dissertation synopsis. I wound up going with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern for the 20th century choice, which they seemed to really like. (And is properly conservative, in a weird way.)
Anyways, in ten days I have the Contemporary Civilization interview, which has this syllabus:

Yes, let us not comment on what they mean by Contemporary Civilization, when it doesn't get to the 19th century before the spring semester. Admittedly, this is better than LitHum, which doesn't get to the Common Era before the spring semester... (I'm a classicist, and I love my material, but I'm not going to ignore the value of Western literature in the last 2000 years either.)
I have read much much less of this syllabus. This interview will be much shakier. If you want to offer me 100 words about philosophy and political theory, be my guest. Otherwise, I will mostly be relying on my dad's lecture notes, amusingly. :)
Also, I'm curious as to what people would choose from the "Modern Issues" section.
In other news, I have now definitely been accepted to two conferences. Appearing this spring to discuss brothels and porn in Ann Arbor and NYC...
Work work. To quote Warcraft III.
