A. and I are alive and well in Chicago. We have moved; our furniture will eventually get here, and meanwhile, it's off to CostCo and Ikea to get a card table and some folding chairs.
The kind and generous Monsieur et Madame et Le Petit Ubiquitous (now fully mobile!) arrived at lunch to bestow a fresh-baked apple pie and muffins upon us. :) So we won't starve either.
Our apartment has an odd gas smell, but our landlords are trying to deal with it, and in the meanwhile we're keeping all the windows open. Other cool things I had forgotten our apartment had are our very own basement storage space, 10-foot tall wall-to--ceiling bookshelves outlining the fireplace in the living room, and pretty overhead lighting. (There is no overhead lighting in Manhattan. I had forgotten its existence.)
Tomorrow is the beginning of the rest of my life. But then, that's true everyday.
