You know, Yale can only benefit if Harvard gets defined in cultural awareness as the school of sexists who argue against women allowing men "free samples." Come to Yale - we like women in science and we let them hook up!

In another interesting new research study, people are beginning to both study the impact of majority-female college campuses and question whether affirmative action should be offered to men to equalize the distribution:

"UCLA higher education professor Linda Sax says such a discussion should address what effect, if any, the gender composition of a college has on men and women. To find out, she examined data from more than 17,000 students at 204 four-year colleges.

Preliminary results show that on campuses that were predominantly female, both men and women got higher grades. Predominantly female campuses also led to a "significant increase" in men's commitment to promoting racial understanding and led males to more liberal views on abortion, homosexuality and other social issues, her research found.

"What we're talking about here is the impact of women's attitudes and values," Sax says."

Of course, this reminds me of old arguments that allowing women to vote would result in more pacifism - traditional female morality triumphing through soft persuasion?

Nicely, this all dovetails with my lecture today on the ancient Greek romance novel _Daphnis and Chloe_, which is principally about a boy and a girl trying to figure out how to have sex. Finally, they learn when the bored wife of another man seduces the boy and teaches him, but warns him against trying it too quickly with his beloved because sex with virgin girls isn't much fun.
