Sigh. I hate being in the waiting game, Again. I don't know whether I haven't heard from jobs cuz they rejected me or because they're slow. Emory scores massive points again for making their schedule clear and specific.

On the plus side, in the first actual Assembly session of yesterday, my historical-simulation students rocked! They engaged in spontaneous Socratic dialogue! They used metaphors and analogies: "Athens is like a young child;" "Athens is like a marathoner with a wounded leg." They had to cut the heated discussion short at the 80-minute mark to vote! I've almost never seen a class so engaged, with so many people offering comments and speeches. And then there's my clearly nervous, non-native-speaker student, who keeps emailing me all these great questions out of class, like "Can we assassinate or bribe fellow players?" He's _totally_ a gamer.
