It won an Ig Nobel in 1999 and does have a U.S. patent. Thankfully, it was never built.
Mac, incidentally, has been working on his sense of humor the past few days. He stuck a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker on my navel without my noticing and then kept pointing at it and giggling. Then he tried to make me wear various toys as hats and giggled about them.
