My therapist gave a a list of exercises to do to quiet the mind. Unfortunately, the list isn't handy at the moment, but I'll see if I can send it to you eventually.

Meanwhile, the one I liked best and so remember was to imagine yourself on a black couch, with black cushions in a room painted black with a black carpet on the floor. The key is to imagine it in as much detail as possible. When you have that in your head, start fading into the darkness.

The idea is to give yourself something to think about that isn't the thing you're worried about and is generally emotionally neutral. I liked the black room one because I liked to imagine myself curled up on the couch. I tried to get the detail good enough so that I could feel the texture of the fabric on the couch. Comfy, but doesn't get my mind racing about things good or bad.

Hugs & Good luck with everything! Winter will be over soon.
