So, of the speculation I've read, the theory I now like most is that there are no actual humans. Everyone is a Cylon; each generation of Cylons redesigns and recreates itself and goes to civil war; and everything has happened before and will happen again. It's a bit Matrixy, unfortunately, but it also makes sense of some things, like the connection to the divine.

I also am increasingly fond of the Laura Roslin=Final Fifth theory, on the grounds that it explains her odd reactions at the end and the fact that all other four New Caprica Resistance Leaders are Final Five Cylons. This puts Kara as the 13th/Chosen One/demigoddess/half-Cylon. (Sudden bizarre thought - could Kara be Tigh's secret half-Cylon love child? Also, her musician father comes back.)

Lyrics speculation: OK, and now I perform a close analysis of All Along the Watchtower, bizarre though its inclusion was.

There must be some kind of way out of here (Way to Earth?)
Said the joker to the thief (Sam the joker/entertainer to Tory the election/document/baby thief)
There's too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine (Tigh the alcoholic)
Plow men dig my earth (Chief, the working class guy)
none of them along the line know what any of it is worth. (none of them are sure who they are/what they are fighting for)

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke. (It's all an illusion)
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate, (Things repeat itself; they won't be traitors)
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late." (Honest with each other - prophecy nearing completion?)

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view (Princes= Adamas?)
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too. (Kara and Dee coming and going, the Cylons all as servants?/naked Cylons?)

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl, (Wildcat=Kara, summoning Lee)
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl. (Lee and Kara/the storm that Helo mentions.)

So, [livejournal.com profile] msarden pointed out to me this very compelling theory over on Mugglenet and other boards that the Deathly Hallows are the Four Hallowed Objects of Arthurian/Irish legend and Tarot, namely, the Cup, Sword, Spear, and Pentacle. In this theory, the Cup is Helga Hufflepuff's Cup, the Sword is the Sword of Gryffindor, the Spear of Lugh is perhaps Rowena Ravenclaw's wand, and the Pentacle is Slytherin's locket. This fits in well with all the Arthurian hints we've gotten throughout the series, especially re the Weasleys:

Ginevra, daughter of Arthur; Weasley boys possibly as the Orkney boys (though Ron also makes a great Kay), Harry pulling the Sword out of a hat, etc...

Where do we go from here? Well, the cup could be the Goblet of Fire, though that seems a bit random. Arthurian legend-wise, things don't look good for Harry surviving. Tarot-wise - and remember that Trelawney uses Tarot frequently, we have the four suits. The other interesting thing here is that to me, Four Objects remaining (Book and Ring Destroyed (and also typical regalia/Worthy Objects, notably) and Harry as the Last Horcrux) implies that there may need to be four wielders of the objects at the end. Three people are obvious- Harry, Ron, and Hermione, although Harry may be separate as a Horcrux-unto-himself. (I'm thinking very Silver-on-the-Tree here, re Bran.) But then we need a fourth. Since they also represent the houses, I suggest:

Hermione-Ravenclaw-Wand/Spear.
Ron- Hufflepuff - Cup (he's such a 'Puff.) The other possibility here is Neville.
Draco - Slytherin - Pentacle/Locket. I think this is especially convincing because I suspect that Regulus Black enchanted the locket so only a Black could open it, given his blood allegiances, and that will require Draco's help, as the only Black other than Tonks likely to help them. My guess is that they'll try Tonks, but that she'll fail because her mom got blasted off the tapestry, unlike Narcissa.
Harry/Ginny - Gryffindor - Sword. This would give Ginny a role other than Reward-Girlfriend, which would be nice. It could also be Ron if Neville is the Puff Cup.

Obviously, there's a lot of inspiration here from Cassy Clare and other sources.

So, what do folks think?
