So, in her latest post about Beauty and the Geek,
wildpaletz mentioned that one of her connections to our favorite finalist, Dave, was that one of his LARP characters was a vassal of her in-game husband and thus, she was technically his liege lady.
This sent my mind down the amusing path ofThis is silly, since I can just say proudly that Dave is my actual friend. But it is, somehow, very in keeping with the spirit of the show.
Now, the problem here is that I PC in the relevant LARP, Quest, extremely rarely. I think that Dave and I may have played dwarves in the same clan, but I can't remember our relationship there. In any case, I've come up with a far more amusing connection.
Many years ago, Baron Felix (the aforementioned liege lord) and another vassal, Sir Carlos, met a kindly woman from Tolbury, Mistress Alice Shore. She offered to host them at her well-appointed hostel for rural young gentlefolk in Tolbury whenever they visited. They mentioned that, with their families, they would be traveling through soon, and I believe we established that they did visit and had a very pleasant time. Mistress Alice was impressed by their titles but also figured out their unimpressive origins; the Cradlers presumably were flattered by her offer of hospitality and numerous connections in Tolbury society. It was never completely clear how much any of the Cradlers realized that Mistress Alice's hostel also serves as a (ahem) salon for wealthy young Tolburians to meet and dally with naive attractive men and women from the countryside who have come to Tolbury in search of Adventure and found they have few useful practical skills. I always wondered what Carmina's reaction was when she found that her husband had arranged for them to stay at such a notorious domicile.
That was eight years ago. So, the amusing question is, can I claim to run Sir Erik Olafsen's favorite house of pleasure? (I doubt there's much competition in Ragnorack.)
Does he even frequent such places?
I've always meant to do more with Mistress Alice, but she only works at very specific kinds of games, and there haven't been a lot of those lately.
