Very much not okay. No, the mom in question did not know about the sexual orientation of her son. That was a conversation which he had the right to have - or not have - with his parents when he chose, not to be outed by his principal.
And whatever the health or religious benefits, I personally will not be dropping Mac off a 15-meter tower.
