It sounds a little contrived; I'm not sure the words will easily take those meanings. Morality is going trump "happiness", I think ("godless heathen fornicators!"). And "life" will torpedo abortion, which I don't think the party is ready for. The Republicans already have a meaning for "life", so it's going to be hard to create a different one in the public consciousness. I do think "liberty" is promising, though. We could definitely stand to co-opt some libertarian ideals, which in a way is what the Republicans did when they got all fiscally conservative back in the day.
And yeah, I think gun control has gone as far as it's going to go, so there's no harm in letting go of that. As long as we keep up the ban on automatic weapons ("kids with machine guns!") and make sure all gun purchases require background checks ("terrorists attending gun shows!"), I think we'll stay within the comfort limit of the vast majority of Americans.
