So, we have our darling little puppy, who so far has been Vaguely Curious (at her original home), Upset (car ride home), Incredibly Cute and In Need of Comfort (arrival home, where her first reaction was to ignore food and water in favor of curling up in my lap for twenty minutes), Tired (much of the afternoon), Playful (on Walk and thereafter), and now, thankfully, Tired again and in her crate. She hasn't quite picked up housetraining yet, but, well, tomorrow is another day, and this is why we haven't put the carpets down.
But the most surprising thing about her is that, as it turns out, her father's official AKC name is Grey Haven's Pippin, son of Grey Haven's the Lord Aragorn and Grey Haven's Easterling Blue, grandson of Grey Haven's Elbereth, Strider, and Lady Rivendell. (Her mother is much more prosaically Lady Hooper.)
We have thus come to the conclusion that our puppy needs a Tolkienish name. The current running favorite is Eowyn as a use name, with Shieldmaiden as an AKC name, but suggestions are welcome. Ideally, we'd like a short, simple, female-ish use-name and some horrifically pretentious but amusing translation or epithet for her AKC name.
Suggestions? Pictures, btw, will be forthcoming tomorrow.

(Well, ok, it's male, but female-ISH. I always thought of Merry as a girl anyway...)
I'm basing this on it being difficult to fit "Eowyn" into a classic "SUU-key" cow-call. Which is best for calling any pet by.

Eowyn seems to suit her, tho.
