Harriet Miers' response to a 1991 interview where she was asked for the composition of her <a="http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/100405dnnatmiersprofile.b97f9cb3.html">fantasy dinner party:

"Guests at my fantasy dinner party: the Apostle Paul, Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Thatcher"

I don't know whether to take hope in the thought that she likes some dramatically leftist figures like the Roosevelts and Gandhi, to raise my eyebrows at the relative conventionality of each name, or to think that she must like really combative and argumentative dinner parties. I mean, can you imagine Thatcher and Eleanor Roosevelt not killing each other by the cheese course? (A. also pointed this out.)

See Eowyn the Klingon and the Towel of Doom! See Eowyn the Pirate! See Eowyn play-bowing!

Eowyn is clearly very savvy, although in remarkably unhelpful ways. The past few days, she's had some intestinal troubles, so when she made icky messes in her crate late at night, we would take her out and hold her and comfort her while the other spouse cleaned out the crate and put fresh papers in.

The past two days, Eowyn's taken to responding to being put in the crate by immediately going potty, even if she's _just_ been outside and just gone, and then barking and whining, clearly in the expectation that now she'll be let out and cuddled for a bit.

We are going to try and work quickly to stop this game. I'm impressed by her planning skills, but determined to channel her energy into something more productive.
