My new glasses are ready! The first pair of new glasses I've had since I was 12, because my insurance only paid for either lenses or glasses, and I only wear glasses before bed and in the morning. (This is still true re insurance, but our new insurance had a co-pay of $65 for the $400 high-index super-prescription glasses I need, and a $25 co-pay _per box_ of lenses, which I can get for $15.95/box at 1-800-Contacts.) So for the last 12 years, I've endured a pair of large round tortoiseshell plastic glasses, which were too weak for my current prescription, and already in bad shape when they were broken because of
fajitas*. And now I get to go and pick up a nice pair of thin sideways-oval shaped metal-frame "aubergine" glasses, with the right prescription, and _two_ lenses.
And in other good news, our stock statement came, and we've made nearly $1000 since 2002. Given my innate terror of the stock market, and the fact that we lost a lot of money in 2003, this is a very good thing.
And the flowers on the tree outside are bright white and blooming. OTOH, it's grey and drekky and the rain continues to raineth every day. Although apparently less bad here than in Boston, which has been renamed the Big Swamp. But I still wish _we_ were having gorgeous sunny warm days like in CA.
*I should clarify here that Fajitas is only very indirectly to blame. A bunch of us were at GenCon, and I was in the bathroom putting on my glasses when Fajitas ran into the hotel room and screamed about something suddenly - I think he'd had a good game or something. Anyways, I was massively startled, and dropped my glasses, and the lense fell out of the right frame and chipped and never really fit solidly in again. But Fajitas was mostly acting as a force of nature.

Yay for new glasses! I'm looking forward to seeing them!
(Does the 'aubergine' refer to the color or the shape of the frames? Or are they actual eggplants? :)

And, if it makes you feel any better, you've had your revenge. I've spent the last twenty minutes trying to figure out how on earth to respond to this accusation, when I should have been thinking about other things. Scant comfort, I'm sure, but I hope it helps a little. ;)

Review is finished; it awaits Adam's check for excessive nastiness.
