We few, we paltry few

I'd like to invite people to join me in the "Women who don't find Orlando Bloom attractive" club, but I'm not sure I know of anyone else... _So_ not a blacksmith! Humph...to quote one review, "Chainmail is the new black."

In my opinion...

Legolas = hot

Orlando Bloom without blonde wig = dork

Funny, Legolas doesn't do it for me, but I liked Orlando Bloom in _Pirates_, with brown hair and that hat.

Not a blacksmith, I agree, but cute.

Sorry!

Very much not a blacksmith - too skinny - but still cute! oooh, the hat! oooh, the swashbuckliness!

And ooooh, Legolas!

I am a fangirl, I admit it. All of the above :) So cute...

Hey!

Women _not_ interested in Orlando Bloom! ......

Hey, you never said that women who were interested in Orlando Bloom couldn't post ;)

See, Johnny Depp just stole my heart in Pirates. Mr. Ingenue (is there a male term for ingenue that I'm forgetting?) never stood a chance.

Of course, I'll be really amused to see Bloom playing Paris in _Troy_, since I always despised the character anyway. Eric Bana (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0051509/), otoh....

The hat was cool, though. I think Bloom's just too young-looking for me - like the tragic moment a few years ago where I realized that my pre-teen crush on Atreyu from the Neverending Story had been completely replaced by "Ack! Too young! Too young!"

Is that an ability I can learn, or catch like a virus? Cuz really, they still gotta be ridiculously young to look TOO YOUNG to me.

Tho Atreyu is definitely TOO YOUNG now.

In the end, I'm kinda all swoony over Frodo and Sam. Yeah, both of em. I just love em to death.

I like Merry, actually. For lots of reasons combining looks & personality. Merry has his shit together.

Oddly enough, although I could not stand Boromir of the books, I find Boromir of the movies *incredibly* attractice, for reasons combining looks and personality.

Sam's still my hero, though.

Ahem. End TMI post, back to your regularly scheduled LJ.

Sam's my hero, but he's the marrying type, if you know what I mean. :) Doesn't anybody else like Aragorn in either books or movie?

Amusingly, Adam has decided he wants to be Beregond for ROTK. :) Ah, my Lawful but Not Awful Good husband...

Y'know, the phrase Lawful but Not Awful really needs hyphens. Or parentheses, for people who like their language looking like math. As it currently reads, it's a little too easy to read it as Lawful, but not particularly Good. Which, I hope, is not what Orichalcum intended to say about me. :)

Count me firmly in the Aragorn type. Although Viggo doesn't do a thing for me as a blond.

That totally sums up how I feel about it. The first time I saw a picture of him outside of Legolas costume, I was horrified.

[identity profile] digitalemur.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'll get back to you on this after I see ROTK. I'm actually not sure where I stand on the issue at the moment, and I think it's because I can only hold so much "X is hot" data in my brain at a time, believe it or not.

I'll likely join you, as I seem to rarely find men "HOT" in as many words. Odd, huh.

On the other hand...

[identity profile] mryt-maat.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I appear to have a vast and schizofrentic ability to find a range of men "hot" at any one time.* I am constantly waffling between, for instance, Saitoh and Sanosuke of Rurouni Kenshin. A similar epic battle occurs in my fan-girl heart between Legolas and Aragorn. (I found Aragorn hot in the movies, but in the book I had a hard time emotionally connecting with any of the characters, actually) I think it boils down to "refined" and "scruffy". Of course, in any movie featuring the god-like hottness of John Depp, no one else is cute to me (except for the obvious, who I wager smells about a million times more sexy than any of these people or characers).

* Please note, what I would actually *do* with such men (where they to exist and/or be within my reach) is much more tame than I generally let on.

I will offer my $.02: The characters Orlando plays are hot. Himself, no makeup? Kind of weird. Anyway, that is my two cents. ^-^;;

[identity profile] contrariety.livejournal.com 2003-12-20 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, in a late-arriving vote, I don't find Legolas particularly hot. Or Orlando Bloom, for that matter. I do find Legolas aesthetically pleasing, but only in the sense that I could see using him as, you know, set decoration or something. Orlando Bloom, on the other hand, particularly in Pirates, just strikes me as being... I don't know... overly nervy and fine-boned.
