Mac didn't like having a dirty diaper on today. So he took it off, carefully folded it into a package, and left it in the playpen. Of course, then he had no diaper. But, perhaps, he realized that he didn't want to make more of a mess in the playpen, where he was. So he pulled himself up to the edge, stood facing the mesh wall of the playpen, and peed out through the mesh. Luckily, he didn't quite hit the wireless router.

Sigh. It's just been one of Those Days.

*hug*

I'm a terrible person because I know how icky this must have been to deal with...but I can't help giggling. Baby Logic is so entertaining!

I'm sorry, that does sound like a tough day, but I cannot help giggling. That's so funny.

Seriously, I hope tomorrow is better and not as... oh, I cannot think of the proper adjective. Not gross. ^-^;;

*hug* and sympathy. The kidlet decided to remove his diaper one day and decorate his crib with what he found inside. It was the same color as his crib. Clean up was challenging to say the least. I hope tomorrow is better.

*snicker*

I think I'll learn from that one and have a crib of a very different color (if possible!) when my turn comes.

That sounds awful though!

Fortunately it was a very sunny day which helped a lot believe it or not. Now I can laugh at it but that day I just handed the kidlet over to the hubby to keep from killing him and locked myself in the nursery until I had both calmed down and cleaned up.

I'm sorry, that must have been a pain to clean up, but that's really funny.

Just think of the entertainment value you can get out of that story when he starts bringing dates home. :)

She's right. You can embarrass him for years. *hugs*

I think there's some Asian form of toilet training that starts a LOT earlier. You might look into it, as you appear to have obtained a Diaper Remover. [livejournal.com profile] starry_midnight was telling me about her cousin who had to be dressed in a snap onesie and pants or she'd take off that diaper faster than you could say "The baby's nekkid". I am currently thanking my lucky stars that Ganon hasn't yet discovered Naked Fun Time.

Of course now that I've said that I'm going to find him diaperless at some point today.

I've heard this too. My understanding is that it requires a fantastic amount of attention since the key isn't so much getting the baby to tell you he needs to go, but noticing the baby's discomfort.

I think there was a feature about this a year or two ago in the NYT.

Yeah, Elimination Communication. I'm sure it works for some people, but I don't have the patience to spend the whole day watching him for poop-signs. That said, I may start being stricter about the onesie and pants...

Um, wow. That DOES seem like it would require ridiculous amounts of attention. If that is the case it seems perhaps like training the baby to understand the link between "this specific discomfort" and "wet diaper" before he/she can comprehend the language. I am with Ganon constantly except for 2 days I go to school and leave him with my parents; I would imagine those 2 days would be enough to completely destroy any progress I make with him in the intervening time. Grr. Maybe I'll try it this summer.

Sounds frustrating... sorry!

How long did all of this take? I'm impressed that Mac got his diaper off; SMNH is just starting to pull at his a bit when he's on the changing table (though he likes to play with clean ones).

I had a day a couple months ago when we'd tried to change S's diaper in the middle of the night but he was so upset that he wouldn't lie down and we had to put it on him while he was standing up. We eventually brought him into our bed to get some sleep. I guess we didn't do such a great job with the tabs on the diaper, though. I woke up in the morning when he started crawling around and tried to get over my legs (which would propel him onto the floor). I reached for him without looking, still half-asleep, and then found myself thinking "wait, why is my hand wet? Am I leaking milk? No... can't be... that's too far away... it must be - oh no." Oh yes. He was peeing onto my hand and the bed, with the diaper still attached on one side but hanging open.

Oh, Mac decided about 2 weeks ago that lying down for diaper changes was far too boring, so many of his diapers are now wrangled onto him while sitting or standing, which is probably why it was easier for him to take it off. It's not that he's upse in M's case. he just really likes being up. He even tries to nurse while sitting or standing these days.

Please tell me he'll calm down in a month or two?
