For fans of fried doughnuts, I present the recipe for what is apparently a truly incredible dessert:

Doughnut Soup

Ingredients
5 glazed yeast doughnuts (preferably Krispy Kreme)
1 c milk
1 c water
powdered sugar
salt

For the stock
Break 2 doughnuts into small pieces and caramelize in a dry pan.
Add milk and water, bring to simmer.
Remove from heat and steep for 20 min.
Strain.

Puree 3 doughnuts in a blender with enough stock for a cream-like consistency. Season to taste with salt and sugar, and run through a fine strainer. Serve warm in demitasse cups alongside an espresso.

I don't even want to think about the calories involved here.

I think I can feel my arteries clogging just reading about this.

*blink* "Incredible" is very close to "inedible". I think the taste of a doughnut with the texture of soup sounds a little off-putting. You're right; the calories involved...it's staggering.

!!!

I may have to try this at some point, while I'm still young enough that it won't strike me dead on the spot.

Bah. I can't picture eating this without a garnish of hot fudge sauce.

I think hot fudge might be a bit dense in texture. I'd go for chocolate shavings or jimmies, tho...
