Goods and Bads of the Last Day of Classes

Bad: I had to cover 1100 years (from the death of Constantine to May 29th, 1453) in 80 minutes. For next time, I should remember that students cannot understand the Iconoclast Controversy in 30 seconds.
Good: I did cover it all, with a minute to spare. And I ended with Sultan Mehmet II conquering Constantinople and immediately renaming himself Kayzer I-Rum: Caesar of Rome.

Bads: This is my last class as a Visiting Assistant Professor. I'm terrified that I will never get a good job again.
Goods: Oh wow do I need a break, after 22 consecutive weeks of teaching with only a 1-week break. And both classes applauded me. Having 115 students give you 20 seconds of sustained, solid applause is a really great feeling. At least they like me.

Bads: It's 86 degrees, and I had to run home to make it only a little bit late, and Mac threw up a bunch today and feels warm.
Goods: I've got a pear cider, in air conditioning, and Mac also just stood on his own for 5 whole seconds.

Bads: I've still got exams and oodles of grading.
Goods: My T.A.s really appreciated the chocolates I got them.

Bads: I'm really tired.
Goods: My in-laws are coming tomorrow, and maybe, if we're lucky, they'll watch Mac for a few hours while we slip out to Spidey or Pirates.

If I knew I was going on to another good job, I'd be totally thrilled today. As it is, I'm half relieved the quarter is over, and half totally panicked about my future. But things will work out in the end. They always do.

You will so have an awesome teaching job again. I know it will happen for you.

*hugs* Hope the in-law's visit and the grading goes well. Take care of yourself.

Things so will work out in the end. Do your best not to panic and enjoy the break. You're a great teacher, and you're going to find a place that recognizes that.

*hug* Things may get Odd at times, but they work out. You will find a good job, and the experience that you've had at NW will help you get it. You're a wonderful teacher, and there's a place out there for you - I know there is.

*hug*
