What's wrong with being "back in the 1990s"?

So, in both the Republican debate tonight and a few speeches recently, Rudy Giuliani has accused the Democrats of wanting to take us "back to the 1990s." Presumably, this is intended especially as a dig at Hillary Clinton.

However, it's got a big problem. I liked the 1990s. So did most people. I want my long nightmare of peace and prosperity back, darnit!

Well, maybe he was referring to parachute pants. Or the grunge look. No one wants to go back to that.
