So, last night, I dreamed I got a package in the mail, addressed to me and Mac, with no return address. Inside, well packaged, was another, smaller box, addressed to
hca and her fiance. I opened it, thinking maybe it was a reused box or something, and went through several more layers of packaging before eventually finding a small white lambskin bag. Inside the bag, there was a Victorian electrum pocket watch, inlaid with elaborate Celtic gold and silver designs. When you turned some of the many dials, moving scenes from the past appeared, like a street in 1890's London or a medieval meadow, although never with any people in them. I was torn about what to do; I saw no reason why I should be given such a thing, and thought it was probably meant to go to HCA and R., maybe as a wedding present. Maybe it was from them, but although they're great folks, it's hard to imagine them giving me a semi-magical antique electrum pocket watch as a spur-of-the-moment thing. I vaguely "remembered" having posted on hca's LJ at some point about liking pocket watches, but really, it seemed a bit extravagant. Finally, I resolved to call
hca and ask if she knew anybody who might have been intending to give her such a thing. Then I woke up.

WOW. I WANT THE WATCH. I wanted the watch before I got to the part about showing scenes from the past. Now I really want the watch.
Maybe it was a mysterious wedding gift that you were supposed to pass along? From my so-far unknown fairy godmother, or something? (But why wouldn't she have my address?)
Maybe, for some reason, I was passing the watch on, to Mac? Maybe I saw Mac in the past, and realized he was the one who figured out how to work it?
Hey. Sounds like a story. If I feel inspired, would you mind if I tried to make something out of it? I will credit you for giving me the idea (gee_tar and Richard have stories so credited to them now).

It was a very cool if odd dream, but I did feel like it really belonged to someone else. :)

Oddly, I dreamed about receiving a package, too. Except it was the BPAL that I knew would be arriving today because I'd gotten a shipping notice, so it was neither prescient nor especially interesting.
Your dream is WAY cooler. I wanna read that story when you write it, too :)
