Bush told Congress today that he would veto any measure restricting his ability to invade Iran.

Not that we've actually authorized him to do anything military in Iran, mind you.

I really am beginning to think that the only way of reining in this government is to impeach the lot. Because when they ignore subpoenas, and laws, and public outcries, and the Supreme Court, well, what's left?

To be fair, it is well within the President's power to veto any congressional measure that crosses his desk. Congress of course can overrule the veto if they can get the votes. This may be bad policy, but it is the constitutional way we pass laws.

It's not that he can't do it; it's that I'm scared of what it implies about his current thought process.
