More random things which I haven't mentioned before...hmmm:

1. I chose and was able to give birth without any painkillers or epidural. This doesn't in any way make me feel like I have any moral or endurance high ground over women who did, because this is totally an area where I respect everyone's individual choice. I knew going in that I had a high natural pain threshold. Still, the endorphin rush immediately afterwards was the equivalent of climbing about 12 mountain peaks, all at once, and my baby was awake and interactive with us for several hours after the birth. I'm glad I had that experience.

2. I have traveled to 34 countries on three (four counting both Europe and Asia) continents.

3. Having traveled around the world eastwards twice, I have two extra days in my life.

4. The first real book I read was the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, at the age of 6.

5. I can't fold maps or roll up sleeping bags. I'm just completely terrible at it. I think the abstract spatial section of my brain is missing or something.

6. I refer to peanut butter often as "be-bu," because that's what it was called in Nanking, China when my dad was little and living there.

7. In re [livejournal.com profile] digitalemur, I know the "lioness on the cheesegrater" position favored by ancient Greek courtesans.

I'm sorry, but any position called "on the cheesegrater" just sounds like it's gonna hurt...

I second that. There are some contexts in which cheesegraters should not appear, even metaphorically :)

It's really more a description of the handle of the cheesegrater, if that helps. We could call it "lioness on the slotted spoon" just as easily.

Or more precisely, really, "lioness on the dough cutter."
