Darn!

I need a word to describe a greedy, selfish woman that can also be used to describe a woman who is young and sexually attractive. I really, really don't want to use b-h, both because I personally object to the word and because, darnit, this dissertation is going to have enough obscenity in it as it is. Any suggestions? I'm stuck here.

How about "priss"? In your context, a term like "nymph" might be too loaded, but seem plausible... perhaps "nymphette". Also not sure of the scope/type of the "greed," but "horny" might be applicable, depending.

"Gold digger" would be the closest I can think of. "Vamp" is also a possibility, as might be "femme fatale", though they both have overtones of violence that might be undesirable.

Actually, if you feel like going a bit further afield, "skeezer" might be in the right line.

Skank or Ho'? I think of these when I think "skeezer." I almost said "Strawberry" but that's just too obscure to be useful for anyone.

See, I was thinking of Vamp and Femme Fatale, but somehow they didn't seem quite right. I kept thinking about film noir.

But really, Vamp is a good one, though. Yes. Vamp. As opposed to Vixen. Which, is, according to Alexis, a neat color for nail pollish.

This might be too Biblical for your dissertation, but maybe "Jezebel"? Vixen might also apply, as well as minx.

Princess/queen, wench, minx, coquette, hellcat. Of course, it's hard to find descriptive terms for women that aren't sexually loaded.

I think I like vamp. It has just the right negative yet sexy connotations I'm going for, particularly as a contrast for my heart-of-gold prostitutes, who sit at their dying lovers' sickbeds and selflessly nurse them, or go into the Roman Witness Protection Program for them.
