So Ella, the baby I've mentioned a couple of times in this LJ, is now 3 months old. Apparently, her favorite game is to find the big curl on the back of her head, wrap her fingers around it, and pull really hard. Then, she starts crying from the pain. Apparently, she's been doing this constantly for the last several days. You really think she'd pick up on the whole cause-and-effect principle, wouldn't you? Also, according to Carol, she's starting to look "just like a basset hound."

In other news, it turns out that having high levels of "good" HDL cholesterol may help prevent dementia and Alzheimer's. Avocadoes and cashews, here we come.

Awwwwwwww :) Do you have Ella pictures? I'd love to see some...

When my cousin Gabe was about 2 months old, he would constantly flap his hands around and hit himself in the face...and then get this very indignant and outraged expression, because someone had hit him in the face! I don't think babies grasp that their body parts belong to them for a while :)

Clearly, we should send all babies The NYTimes article on body schema.

Oooh, and now I can send it to Apintrix.

I'm not sure exactly when self-identity happens without some more materials, but 3 months is a little early to expect that. That said, I think babies do some elements of conditioning very early on.

Anyway, more importantly: avocadoes! awesome!
