Scotland Yard has proposed a plan to take DNA samples from 5-year-olds who have "risk factors that make it likely they would become an offender" and keep track of them in the national DNA database.

As I said to [livejournal.com profile] cerebralpaladin yesterday, how did I wind up living in the mirror universe? Sometimes I want to write stories or RPGs set in the world where President Gore has massively reduced carbon emissions and the huge growth industry in hybrids and gay tourism has saved the U.S. economy, except that it's too depressing to think about. So instead I'll work on a mirrorverse Potter game for Orichalcon 2008.

I wonder if we can preemptively waterboard the 5-year-olds to further test whether they're likely to turn into terrorists?

Don't be silly. We waterboard the 5-year-olds to make them tell us who else in kindergarten might grow to be a terrorist.

It's true; good to train informers early...

On the other hand, waterboarding kindergartners will radicalize all their classmates, and make them grow up into terrorists.
