"Now some folks say it's too big
And uses too much gas
Some folks say it's too old
And that it goes too fast
But my love is bigger than a Honda
It's bigger than a Subaru
Hey man there's only one thing
And one car that will do
Anyway we don't have to drive it
Honey we can park it out in back..." --Bruce Springsteen

Barring bad news from the mechanic, we'll soon be the owner of a bronze 1993 Volvo 960 wagon, with 90,000 miles on it. It's not a glamorous car, but it's big, it works well, it's comfortable, and it can fit dog and Mac and multiple Mac-friends (or our friends) w/o blinking, and we don't have to worry about getting it dirty.

Also, our stuff arrived today. Much to unpack. Much, much to unpack.

Oh. I was hoping you actually got a pink cadillac.

Yeah, I know, but the maintenance, and the safety...plus there weren't any on Craigslist. :)

I've got to tell you that Volvos lead to [more] babies. People get Volvos, they end up pregnant.

Don't say you weren't warned.

:) Warning duly noted. That said, Eowyn has made it clear that she very much wants a little girl in the family (the sexist puppy!) so there's already an intra-family lobbyist. :)

Good car!

(Not that I'm biased or anything -- my family had an '89 Volvo station wagon until 2003, and it was a workhorse of a car. Not glamorous, but fantastic for kids and pets and ferrying people around. And actually very comfortable for long drives -- we went from Chicago to Connecticut in it several times.)

Congratulations on the Volvo. I know a car will be one thing you'll be very glad to cross off the to do list, and it sounds like a good choice!
