Debate Liveblogging

Did McCain just suggest that if you don't like your doctor in Tennessee, you should go see one in Arizona?

And we'll fix everything all at once. . . no priorities.

I guess that will happen while Palin is defining the office of Vice President the way they want it to be.

I'm waiting for the NY Times liveblogger to catch up on that one. It has to do w/ state regulations on health care.

[identity profile] ladybird97.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah,I think he did. Because of course, everyone has the resources and time to go to another state if they can't find the doctor they like...

We can fly there in our private planes, right?

[identity profile] ladybird97.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, which of our houses are we staying at then?

[identity profile] xse99.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna take my gold-plated Cadillac.

Health Care Road Trip! Better hope you've got someone to drive you if you're sick.

[identity profile] meepodeekin.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
No problem, I have two chauffeurs, so they can switch off and drive continuously to get me there ASAP.

[identity profile] digitalemur.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I just laughed so hard at you guys I had a coughing fit. OW!

Is there room on this road trip for a librarian with croup?

[identity profile] orichalcum.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Only if you censor books.

[identity profile] digitalemur.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Do I have to censor liberal books and evolution books? Or can I censor conservative books and intelligent design books? Cuz that I can do.

[identity profile] emilymorgan.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Americans never have to drive themselves to get medical care. I learned that from Joe Lieberman.

[identity profile] digitalemur.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Why not? Because they have Joementum?

[identity profile] holmes-iv.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, to be fair, he said you never have to drive far for medical care— or rather, for back-up medical care if your local hospital refuses for religious reasons to give you the medication you need. Not that this helps him much (or is meant to).

[identity profile] ladybird97.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, because he lives in A TINY STATE.

*cackle* Wonder what McCain's running mate would say about the ease of traveling to other states for medical care!

...oh wait, she'd just say to go to Russia, 'cause she can see it from here.

[identity profile] emilymorgan.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah; I was referring specifically to his choice of the word "ride" rather than "drive." Of course, no one would be in that situation and have to drive herself. Clearly. (But maybe I'm splitting hairs.)

[identity profile] stolen-tea.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Those pesky little state borders. They're useful when my enemies are in charge in Washington, to keep them out of my business, but when *I'm* in charge, they definitely need to go.

[identity profile] wildpaletz.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
As Ed said while we were watching that section, "Yay! $5,000 abortion fund!" Implication being that, well, under a McCain administration, one would have to cross state lines to get an abortion, so...

[identity profile] lisa-bee.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
But doesn't everyone have a private plane to fly them to a different doctor?
