Baby/Dog Show LV: Impressive Reasoning, Dubious Ethics

I've been posting a lot of Mac stories lately, but that's because there are a bunch of good ones. This is such an awesome age; it's so much fun to watch him think.

A couple of amusing recent moments:

A. Last night, Mac woke up and demanded to cuddle in our bed. CP brought him in and then went to the bathroom. Mac promptly sprawled over CP's pillow. When CP came back, I said, "Mac, you have to let Daddy have his pillow now. You can share Mommy's pillow."

After some gentle shoving Mac reluctantly abandoned Daddy's pillow and grabbed about a third of mine. He looked at me after a few seconds, and then said, half hopefully, half demandingly, "Mommy Go Bathroom?"

What impressed me in retrospect was the reasoning ability - that he was able to deduce (at 3 AM, even) that _if_ Mommy went to the bathroom, _then_ her pillow would be free, and then he could steal it.

He did not get his wish.

B. Yesterday, we were listening to music and Avenue Q came on, which Mac hasn't heard before (and probably won't again soon; I had forgotten the frequent obscenities.) He listened to it for a minute and then asked interrogatively, "Muppet Show?"

It isn't, of course, but he was able to pick up on some commonality in musical style between Ave Q and the Muppets, which is kinda cool.

C. Two mornings ago, it was time for him to play in his room by himself for a bit. He happily plopped down in his stuffed animal corner and announced, "I want to read a book!" and started flipping through one of his favorites. I was so proud.

D. In the car yesterday, flipping through "That's Not My Dragon," he asked me, "Mommy? Dragons Not Dinosaurs Why?"

I did not give a good answer. CP points out that the correct answer is that Western dragons have six limbs, whereas dinosaurs have four.

These are so great. I burst out laughing at the pillow and the dragons and ended up having to read them out loud to my roommate.

Glad to provide amusement to the world. I really do want a "Dragons Not Dinosaurs Why" ljicon now.
