1. I had a set of plans for today. Get up, mail out 14 more applications (almost the last bunch!), go to a doctor's appt, go to Columbia and deal with administrative things, finish the last of my applications, come home, mail them, go buy 1-2 pairs of winter pants and flats, go buy travel pharmacy supplies, eat dinner, get on plane with husband for Paris. But my doctor's office just called, and apparently the doctor (who I've been waiting for a month to see) is sick himself, so, well, no appt, which is frustrating, cuz I'd gotten myself all psychologically ready for it, if not actually urgent. On the plus side, more time for sanity, a last fling with World of Warcraft, and breakfast.
2. We're off to the Loire Valley today and then 4 days in Lyon visiting my Dad! Yay! Please don't let this vacation be canceled too! We'll be mainly staying in Blois, for the record - if anyone has any last minute recommendations, please send them along!
3. By the end of today, I will have applied for 44 jobs. My advisers seem to think I may be overapplying, but I can't help but feel that it's better to have as many chances as possible. I'll find out about 1st-round interviews around the 1st week or two of December. Now comes the nervous time. It's very odd - I've never applied for anything without a bounded term limit before. These applications could shape the rest of my life. It's very intense.
