The above is sad, as it's an in-joke, and not even _my_ injoke, but nonetheless expresses the way I feel - like a paladin who, in order to enter the Temple of the Goddess of Disease, has been turned into a tapeworm, and is very, very, very, cold with intermittent bits of going inside to warmness.

Plus, I missed lunch with my friend due to a 1.45 hour long OB/GYN appt of which about ten minutes was actually seeing the doctor, as opposed to waiting, and those ten minutes included the fun of sitting in a cold room in a paper gown entirely open in the front, having cold metal things stuck inside of me.

Soon to come -frantic dissertation work and revision, and T.A.ing the first class for a professor I've never met, and where I have never seen a syllabus, before rushing home for groceries.

Oh, and I got rejected by Johns Hopkins. No other news on jobs.

*hug* Ya know, last night as I was running outside to take out the garbage, I was doing the same thing. "Cold! Cold! Cold!" And then back inside - "Warm! Warm! Warm!"

And *hug* I'm sorry about Johns Hopkins. Rejections always hurt. But even so...was it really the kind of teaching atmosphere that you wanted?

*hug* Hang in there! Remember that the house, it is yours, and it will be yours again! I hope your day and your week get better soon!

C'mon, isn't this the sort of thing y'all want to be eternally known for?

Yes, this is exactly what I want as my epitaph.

There are worse epitaphs...I mean, I can't think of many at the moment, but...

I think you should really work for "Devoted (Family Member), Friend, and Tapeworm."

Don't forget "chew toy," I'm sure Mele thinks of him that way sometimes.

I can't think of many at the moment, but...

How about "He failed to realistically portray a sentient tapeworm"?

(Sorry to hear about bad job news. That and the OB/GYN on the same day is really a double-whammy.)

*hug* There are other places who will work better for you but I'm sorry about Johns Hopkins anyway.

Sorry about Johns Hopkins. Rejections always suck. And Johns Hopkins sucks in general. They clearly don't deserve you anyway.

*hugs* about JHU. Usually these things are all for the best in the long term, even if it takes a while to figure out how...

When I mentioned the JH rejection to my Dad, he exclaimed, "Those idiots! They're fools not to want her!" I feel the same way.

*hugs*
