Hey folks,

This is mostly for other graduate students/professors/teachers out there, but please pass it on, cuz it's darn cool, and for gaming authors, also read on.
Barnard College is running the 5th version of its remarkably successful conference, "Reacting to the Past," which basically teaches (through doing) a pedadogical model which can only be described as educational historical roleplaying simulations. It's a 4-day conference from Mon, June 20th- Thurs, June 23rd, and they pay for all meals and lodging and materials, although not for travel expenses. You can find out much more here. The modules which will be played for beginners this year are:

 MONDAY-TUESDAY:
Either
The Threshold of Democracy: Athens in 403 B.C.
Or
Defining a Nation: India on the Eve of Independence, 1945

WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY:
Either
Confucianism and the Succession Crisis of the Wanli Emperor
Or
Rousseau, Burke, and Revolution in France, 1791

So come join me! The other reason to mention it is that they need new modules, 3 each year (although this year's deadline seems to have passed, sadly), and pay $5000 for each successful entry! And I have to think that there are folks out there capable of coming up with a sophisticated, interesting historical roleplaying scenario...

Anyways, this is getting a lot of good press, and I'm excited at the thought of participating in it.
Mood:: 'accomplished' accomplished
Music:: Foolish Games, ironically enough.
