Wow. This is definitely going to be a good year to watch while prop-making for Fear to Tread. Which reminds me, I should email the props folks. But at any rate, very happy about ROTK, Depp, Ken Watanabe!, Sofia Coppola (who I remember from Godfather III as gorgeous and dumb, and it's great she's grown up to be smart and capable), and the daughters and father nominated for In America's screenplay. I think the only case where my heart is torn in terms of who to cheer for is Supporting Actress, not that I've seen any of the movies, but I've heard great things about Shohreh Aghdashloo and I've always loved Holly Hunter. And it's so refreshing that the Best Actor category and the Best Actress Category are all really what one might call actor's actors - not the attractive multi-millionaire A-list stars, but folks who can just knock your socks off with their acting abilities. It's not that I dislike Julia Roberts, but I suspect that Diane Keaton can take her in a fair fight any day. Although, hey, 3 of the Actors are still in my "happily sleep with them under different circumstances" category. With luck, I'll still get to see Keira Knightley looking hot in something on the red carpet. Apparently, it's the year of Much Cleavage. :)

Who is Blake Edwards? He sounds very familiar, but isn't ringing a bell, despite getting the Special Award.

Well, you can still watch the cleavage same as the rest of us. It's not like the distance between you and Keira Knightley is that much greater in the grand scheme of things. :) BTW, what do folks think of the King Arthur trailer? kingarthurmovie.com

I am Extremely Skeptical of any King Arthur movies.

But I am looking forward to having many opportunities for shots of Orlando Bloom in a tux at the Oscars ;)

Blake Edwards wrote and directed the Pink Panther movies, along with numerous smaller productions from about 1950 onwards. ^-^;;

He also did Victor/Victoria, and a bunch of TV stuff. And he seems to have made his early career by playing random unnamed sailors in WWII movies :)
