Why, every now and then, I fall back in love with the NYTimes: '"War of the Worlds" is rated PG-13. Much of the earth's population is wiped out, leaving very little time for sex or bad language."
*giggle* I also liked "Mr. Spielberg's extraterrestrials, who rampage across New Jersey in metal death-ray-shooting tripods are - I'm looking for the precise critical term here - wicked scary."
I was wondering how they'd deal with the geography in the movie, and whether they'd pull any punches because, post 9/11, who wants to see aliens rampage across NJ and then zorch Manhattan?
Oh, now I want to see this movie. I better go read Scott's review.
Now that I've read that review, I _must_ see that movie, even though just reading the Welles radio play scares me silly now that I live right where it takes place. I think it's gonna be weirdly cathartic, and I think it's no coincidence that it's being released on July 4th weekend, both for the "America, F*** Yeah!" value and to remind people how they haven't seen an alien invasion blockbuster since ID4.

We could do it Monday...
Anyways, Ladybird, soon as we have email again, I'll be contacting you as well about the 4th, which seems to be mildly shrooming here in NY. :)
