Generally, Word's spell-checker is fairly helpful to me. However, it keeps trying to rewrite the Latin word "scorta," which literally means "skins" and metaphorically means "really cheap prostitute," as, well, "scrota." This leads to some seriously unfortunate sentences, like "typical soliticitation techniques of scrota."

chuckle. nice one. my biggest problem lately is Word's tendency to auto-correct the word 'conversos' (for some reason, scholars keep the Spanish version of the term for descendents of Jewish converts to Chry in Spain) to 'converses'. not embarrassing, but since Word does it haphazardly, it's rather annoying...not to mention i keep feeling like i'm writing about tennis shoe brands!
