There are books you can get on how to tie an obi, but as apintrix says above, there are probably some good web sites that will provide you with said information. The book I'm thinking of is entitled something like, The Art of Wearing a Kimono, and contains some basic obi ties. You can get super crazy with them, if you want to. (Mrs. Doi did mine with an orchid tie that was very graceful, and she was a *liscensed obi tier*. I think I know what I want to be when I grow up. *grins*) Since they used to denote marital status, as well as social status (to a lesser degree), they can get very ornate.

Yikes on the 5K! D's and my plan to send our stuff down to SD doesn't sound as good as it did before I checked my LJ. :(
