I've heard this can also be an allergic reaction to some solid foods. Maybe try cutting things out one at a time and see if that helps?

Just a thought - we dropped some solids from SMNH's diet a month ago and saw noticeable positive effects. We think it might have been the peas. Apparently peas are a common allergen. Who knew??? (Not that he's necessarily allergic in the long run; just not agreeing with him right now.)

Huh...I'd heard mainly hives and swelling sorts of reactions to foods, rather than cold-like symptoms. But you may be right; I'll check with the pediatrician next week at Mac's 6-month checkup. He already hates peas and carrots.

We're also thinking that dust blown by the heater is very likely, because A. was home today and started having the exact same symptoms, but only when the heater was on, and M.'s symptoms are worse when he's lying in his crib near the vent.

OTOH, M. did seem to have a brief immediate allergic reaction (little red bumps around his mouth, gone 10 minutes later) when he munched on a bit of mozzarella from my sandwich yesterday.
