From a Classics Mailing List:
:A slight contretemps today as I was walking down Kensington Church
Street. There was a man coming the other way wearing a T-shirt with
the slogan 'Si hoc legere scis, nimium eruditionis habes.'
Me (pleasantly): 'Sic, possum.'
Man (furiously): 'Oi! Wot yer callin me?'
It turned out that he had bought it from a charity shop." --Ralph Hancock
[Translation: "If you know how to read this, you have too much education." "Indeed, I can."]
