Grading speeches on the death of Caesar:

"I propose to dispose to his corpse in a quiet manor. We do not need to give this man any more luxuries."

And the unfortunate imagery award:
"In addition to his brigand of ruffians, whom admittedly did accompany him, as they always do, Milo had in tow a great number of servants, lady’s in waiting, etc, whom greatly hampered his ability to leap up and fall upon Clodius with the full force of his prowess. "

It never occurred to me that students in college actually made these sorts of errors. I assumed that the examples in grammatical humor books were anomalies. But I suppose that different people focus on different things in their lives, and some just don't gain writing prowess (hee!) along the way. Bless you for slogging through this stuff!

Awesome userpic. These are actually far from the worst writers I've graded; they just happen to be humorous. You can get into a good college with extremely poor writing skills these days, as far as I can tell.
